Michael Grace, W. Melbourne, FL
16’ Daniel Herald Patent Double Cedar Canoe
White cedar, butternut, walnut, white oak

Built 1873

Built by Dan Herald in Gore's Landing, Ontario. This is a truly historic boat, one of only two known to exist (the other is in a Canadian Museum).  It represents a radical new way of construction which was never replicated by any other builder.  The hull is ompletely original.

#191
Michael Grace, W. Melbourne, FL
16.5’ Lakefield Longitudinal Cedar Strip Canoe

Built by the Lakefield Canoe Co., Lakefield, Ontario. The Lakefield Canoe Co. was formed from the merger of two of the earliest  boat builders in North America.  This canoe is nearly 100% original, and a fine example of this popular style of all-wood canoe construction.
